Join author James Robertson and artist Kate Leiper as they tell the story of how they came to write and illustrate The Buke of the Howlat.
Between them they have created an enchanting new version of one of Scotland’s oldest poems – originally written here in Moray, in the 1440s. A young Owl (Howlat) believing himself to be ugly goes to see the bonniest bird of all, the Peacock, hoping that he can persuade Nature to make him equally handsome. However, the Howlat’s plan goes badly wrong, and he learns a very important lesson…
