Out & About, Special Events

For the last three months Neil Callaghan has been working in and around the Findhorn Village Centre, making food for people in return for a recipe. Gathering recipes of people’s favourite dishes, some that have been passed down through generations, or are in danger of being forgotten. All these recipes will be gathered into a self-published cook book.

In this afternoon celebration he will present an ‘edible’ talk. A journey that will lead us through things he has learned on his way from people he has met, as well as curious things he has discovered about food, with a few “wee tasters” for sampling.  How do we taste with all our senses? What does it mean to share food with friends and strangers?

After Neil’s talk there will soup and cake; a space to eat, talk and sneak a peak at pages from the forthcoming cook book.

About the Artist

Neil Callaghan is an artist working with a social choreography involving local people and their relationship to food. Using food as a way to connect, to be together, to discover something new.

Through our Combine to Create Small Halls Artists in Residency programme, four creative practitioners have been paired with four rural village halls in Moray to create a site-specific work in response to the unique narrative of the hall and its community. Residencies will culminate with a celebration event as part of the festival, including live music, food, art and more.

Venue Accessibility Info

The village centre is fully accessible by wheelchair and has an accessible toilet. There is on-street parking outside and in the vicinity, but no designated parking for the building. Parking can be limited so please plan accordingly.
