Mabon, the celtic harvest celebration, marks the autumn equinox and celebrates the time of year when crops have been gathered from the field and people can reflect and show gratitude for the food that they have, to come together and share what they have. Local community growing initiatives invite you to join them and celebrate the bounty of life.

Rafford Village Hall
A traditional family-style harvest lunch with long tables and mountains of cheer, celebrating the abundance of Rafford’s community of growers and farmers of fertile fruits, roots and fields. An artfully prepared rainbow of vegetables, savoury meats and plump fruits from local growers prepared by Rafford’s Marcassie Farm Kitchen. The lunch includes live entertainment, exhibitions and other creative surprises.

The Woodland Garden, Park Ecovillage, Findhorn
A simple plant-based harvest soup and a wee winter salad gathered from this unique woodland garden are on offer. Part of the Findhorn Hinterland Trust, the meal will be cooked on an open fire and served in their timber-framed outdoor learning space on a long table. There are also benches around the garden to sit and eat.

Forres Friends of Woods and Fields
Join a relaxed alfresco harvest lunch cooked on the fire bowl to celebrate what they have been growing and eating this year in their community garden. Enjoy live entertainment and a tour of the garden too!

Transition Town Forres
There have been gardeners growing at Transition Town Forres since 2008. Enjoy the fruits of their labours as they invite you to enjoy a simple, delicious lunch of fresh homemade soups and cakes. You will have the satisfaction of knowing that most of the food supplied has zero food miles. On display will be a portrait exhibition of some of their 50 gardeners so you can see how eclectic the local growing community is at Transition Town Forres.
