Birdvox

with support from Kuchke and DJ Dolphin Boy

Four of Scotland’s most distinctive musical voices unite for an ancient-yet-contemporary sound, closing the festival alongside Kuchke and DJ Dolphin Boy.

Music

Birdvox brings together four of Scotland’s most distinctive musical voices to create something entirely new: a sound that is at once ancient and contemporary, familiar and surprising. By rewriting the recipe, shaking the kaleidoscope and blending their unique musical histories into a joyful live experience.

Birdvox features Sarah Hayes (Admiral Fallow), Inge Thomson (longtime collaborator of Karine Polwart), Jenny Sturgeon (Salt House) and Charlotte Printer (Altered Images). Singing in Scots, Shetland dialect, Old Norn and English, Birdvox weave language, story and song into a rich tapestry of sound.

Kuchke is an all-female vocal ensemble renowned for their powerful performances of traditional polyphonic music inspired by the rich vocal traditions of the Balkans. To bring our festival to a close, we hand the decks to Scottish DJ and producer Dolphin Boy.
