Fusing ideas and influences drawn from multiple musical traditions, Smoke’s work seeks to evoke a particular psychological state within the listener – inviting an experience that reaches beyond the material and into something intangible.
Across these traditions, common elements emerge – close tunings, repetitive structures, and melodic simplicity, all of which contribute to a distinctive atmosphere. Through looped cello, synthesis, voice, and immersive surround sound, the performance dissolves the boundaries of the venue itself, guiding audiences on a sublime sonic journey into the ether.
