Rachel Sermanni is renowned for transforming the everyday into something quietly magical. Blending dreamy indie-folk with thoughtful lyricism, her most recent album explores motherhood, relationships, identity and creativity with warmth, honesty and imagination.
Northern Ireland’s Joshua Burnside, whose distinctive sound fuses experimental folk with elements of electronica, Irish traditional music and inventive production. Drawing on found sounds and global influences, his music is atmospheric, intimate and richly textured. His critically acclaimed album Teeth of Time was named one of BBC Radio 6 Music’s Albums of the Year and has received widespread praise and multiple award nominations across the UK and Ireland.
His fourth album, It’s Not Going To be Okay, is an unflinching portrayal of a man on the tightwire between grief and acceptance. Written in the aftermath of the tragic passing of Joshua’s close friend Dean Jendoubi, the album navigates the twisting, jagged road of Joshua’s recovery, told through a medium of stripped back finger picking, raw and brutal lyricism and his signature experimental production.
