Whilst not requiring you to do anything, this show is an invitation to you to connect more
with your own sense of aliveness…that’s the attempt anyway. In my work I’m interested in
exploring the influences of childhood that are still operating in adulthood; these apparently
separate states of being. I’m also interested in the fact that we’re all inherently creative, yet
live in a culture that can separate out the ‘Creatives’ from the rest (the ‘non-creatives’ I
guess?). A culture where we can, often innocently, be ‘othered’ from our own creative
expression, whatever form that might take – & we’re all the poorer for that. The show has
some recent expressive works on paper as well as some previous works that still resonate
for me.

The appearance of things
Jean’s exhibition is an invitation to reconnect with your sense of aliveness and creativity, exploring how childhood continues into adulthood, and what happens when creativity is separated from us.
