Under This Northern Sky is a selection of commissioned and self-directed imagery by Paul Heartfield, created since his family’s move to Scotland in 2020. The series includes a body of abstract double-exposure works, developed following a recent collaboration with music visualiser and designer Chris Bigg.
Heartfield is an acclaimed British portrait and music photographer, widely recognised for his distinctive images of leading musicians, cultural figures and political personalities. His editorial portraits regularly appear in The Guardian, The Times, The Financial Times and The Telegraph. He received the Scottish Portrait Awards Members’ Vote in 2022 and has gained international recognition, including the Golden Unicorn Award at the Russian Documentary Awards for his film work.
